How does it work?

Bowen therapy works by using the dynamic relationship between the muscles and the nervous system. Its is bodywork, but it is not massage, we do touch the body but we do something differently.

We use mainly thumbs and fingers and do rolling movements over ligaments, tendons and other connective tissue. The Bowen therapy is a three-part combination move we take some slack skin, apply a little pressure and then move the skin over the body structure.

The location of the moves for Bowen therapy are across most areas of the body, especially the lower and upper back, neck, legs, arms and head.

Bowen therapy is effective because, with a minimum of stress on the body, it focuses the innate healing capacity of the body exactly where it is needed to facilitate speedy recovery, pain relief and healing.

The innate healing capacity is the powerful combination of body systems responsible for tissue repair, nutrition, waste disposal, muscle length, nerve health and blood flow.

The innate healing capacity takes care of the traumas and injuries, renewing injuries, recovering lost function, feeding and cleansing the body, relieving pain and regenerating tissue. This is done constantly throughout the body to keep us healthy.

Lots of people walk  around in a permanent state of stress. When we experience stress, out bodies get tense. Since we are  affecting the client's nervous system, people frequently report feeling more relaxed and sleeping better at night after Bowen Therapy session.

During a Bowen session the body is allowed to re-orient to a memory of a previously healthy state or an original blueprint of health.

Treatment usually does not need to be continuous, and often just a very few sessions will change the situation.
